Presenter Bio
Mike Carson started Closet Works from his basement in 1987 and has grown his retail closet company into the largest in the Chicagoland area with over $10 million in sales. He has three showroom locations and 105 employees.

In 2003 Mike started a new venture, Plus Closets, which is a wholesale division that helps kitchen dealers from around the country increase revenues by adding closet systems to their product line.

Six years ago Mike founded the first and only association dedicated to the independent closet manufacturer, the National Closet Group. The NCG, with over 50 members from across the country, is actively innovating and developing new products, networking best practices, working on cooperative marketing programs and helping members take advantage of their combined purchasing power.

Mike stepped down as President of the NCG this year so he could assume the leadership role in the newly formed trade association ACSP (Association of Closet and Storage Professionals).

Mike is a featured columnist for the new industry magazine “Closets”. His “In the Front Office” column helps business owners with operational issues.

He’s been part of an emerging industry that has seen many changes so far and is in the middle of a maturing process that will speed up the rate of change.

Mike has redefined his company several times by venturing into new markets and by taking advantage of his excess capacity to push his core product through different channels.
